Since Egypt is located on the Nile river, many Egyptians traveled and shipped cargo up and down the river by boat; it was usually the fastest and safest way to travel. Boats were made from planks fastened together with straps or ropes. This example of a typical Nile boat is based on the funerary barge of Pharaoh Khufu, as well as examples found in various Old, Middle, and New Kingdom tomb paintings.NOTE: Voucher friendly for locked version only.
