Wow, that sucks. I guess the list I saw that said you got quite a lot of plants is not correct. That list said you should have in the tree section:
Dead Tree
Fir Tree
Plum Tree
Large Dead Tree
Winter Pear Tree
Summer Cherry Tree
Fall Cherry Tree
Blossoming Cherry Tree
Rural Maple Tree
Yellow Maple Tree
Red Maple Tree
Umbrella Acadia
Springtime White Birch
Mexican Palm Tree
Coconut Tree
Old Eucalyptus Tree
Baobab Tree
HD Larch Tree - Autumn
HD Larch Tree - Summer
HD Lime Tree - Autumn
HD Lime Tree
Plum Tree - Autumn
Walnut - Autumn
Plum Tree - Winter
Walnut - Winter
That was supposedly for Vue 7 Complete though but they've never removed content from version to version before that I know of. If you don't at least have these trees then maybe it would be worth asking about it e-on (not here).
Yes, that fir tree is relatively useless but the HD trees can make some nice alternatives in the plant editor.
Well I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I also have at least 2 -3 of the "official plants" as prior purchases. But when I've tried to check out the shopping cart all it does is warn me that I actually have these plants and do I wish to proceed, (which I click yes..) Unfortunately its after this where it goes to actually do the checkout that it times out, so maybe there's a further internal check process that won't allow it to proceed. As you, this should be able to be circumvented.
AFAIK, if you had multiple seats of Vue, technically you would/should also need multiple copies of purchased plants, or any bought content for that matter ??
If this is actually a major stopper for the official pack, it should be fixed. AND an explicit warning should be on the page to ensure that other potential customers know what the implications are. There's no way (imho) anyone should be penalised, just because you went out and purchased one of the plants to see the quality level prior to purchasing the full pack. It makes sense to check out the supplied plants (at a cost of say approx $9) before committing $199 to the project. That would be something I would normally do to see what a model was like. eg can I use it for a foreground object or not.
Anyway I am still hoping for a satisfactory resolution.
(Sorry for the late reply, but I was in a rage yesterday - holy moly, someone seems pretty eager to make me quit Vue, and I don't even know why. )
Hi Robin - wish I had those HD trees, but sadly, no. In my vanilla Vue 10 installation I only had the Plum, Fir and - I think - Maple trees (+ dead trees and palm trees). In addition to that I only have a couple of trees from my old Vue 7/8 installations (T-Pack, Content Starter, Esprit and a couple of trees I bought - mostly edited plants, though).
Gary, I think I remember reading somewhere that "locked to your licenses" means it's useable in ALL of your versions of Vue. And so far I don't have any problems with using my old locked content in Vue 10 (luckily, I'm not overly eager to rebuy everything, especially after what happened this past week).
I've been rejected again, by the way. Not sure why they keep doing that while on the other hand they promise you help and keep you updated on their progress. Can't remember running over anybody's cat...
Also asked to talk to a supervisor (not to complain, but because I was told they would get in trouble for simply deleting the offending entries - so I told them I wanted to talk to someone who could make that decision), but of course I was denied that, too.
So in the end I had to file a complained directly at e-on, and THEY managed to reply within half an hour, apologised and told me there's a chance that it will work some time today.
(They even had the sense to reply in a friendly way, despite my complaint of course being everything but friendly after having been treated like an insolent child for a week now...)
Not sure whether I can be carefully optimistic now - keeping my fingers crossed, since I was REALLY looking forward to using Vue for my landscaping needs again!
Hi Doris, hopefully it will get resolved.
I had a look in my content, after being spurred on by Robin's comment. Certainly I have quite a few of those trees. Have you had a look in your directory (assuming Windows7) for what is actually there.. I've had a few issues with the "collections browser" of vue sometimes not always showing all that is actually installed. ie perhaps the collections file gets corrupted in some way. Check c:/users/yourname/mydocuments/e-on software/vue10/plants/trees and see if they are there.
ps do not count any that have the .....~~.veg extension. They're name placeholders only.. IF you see heaps more that what vue shows, delete the trees collection folder and make a new collection, ie browse for the trees folder on your harddrive and re-create it. It may then show what you actually have.
(that's a guess tho,, but worth a try..)
Cheers!
Gary B.
Hi Gary - do you also have Vue 10 Complete? If it works for you, I'll have to try and reinstall, maybe (hopefully!) it's just something that went wrong during installation. I didn't get any error message, but maybe the errors were just handled quietly.
Checking the files was the first thing I did (once burned... ) when the plants folder looked this empty upon first start, before I incorporated my old folders. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the problem.
But great news on the value pack front: the cart is working again, the value pack is back to $106,57 (was well over $200 for a while) and, lo and behold, I was finally able to check out!
Keeping my fingers crossed that it works for you, too, Gary.
I'm just really sad I had to go the way of an official complaint (I still don't know why... even after being rejected for the third time my mails were still friendly and I'm not sure why I was told to get lost when others were offered help on that very same issue), and I'll definitely stay clear of the shop now. It's still extremely buggy and I really don't feel like dealing with that kind of support again...
All the more thanks to everybody in this thread - lots of informative posts and good ideas! And special thanks to Gary and Robin for helping with the vanilla plants issue (will try to reinstall tomorrow - keeping my fingers crossed).
Oh, by the way, now that there are 106 new items in my account , a short question to the old hands: I remember there was a functionality for downloading all items from an order in a single executable - is that still around (can't find it) or has that been taken down?
Yeah!
After a nailbiting few minutes and a bit of a tricky issue using Chrome, I put the official plant pack in the cart and into the download area.
Now 45 minutes later I have the plants in my Vue collections.
Thanks to Christie K and all who have worked through this issue to help obtain a resolution.!!
Hi Daniel, the current price shown is $141.24 It used to be $199 and afaik there was no discount whether you were a CC member or not.
The thing that was happening at the time I bought the pack was that some of the plants were on particular specials that seemed to have a time lapse component to them, therefore the price was dependant on when.. ie how many of the plants in the total pack were discounted, or how many were not.. making a variable total. If the green weekend thing is still going, the total will vary as a CC member gets 50% off the price, vs 30% for non members, now this is not 50% off the total pack price, but of specific plants, that happen to be within the pack.
The simplest thing is stick the pack in your cart, check the price prior to checkout and if agreeable go for it, if not, DON"T PROCEED, cancel and remove the items from your cart. That's essentially what I did, and hence led to my comments in this thread because I couldn't actually checkout.. fixed now though..
Hope this helps
