Each week, Cornucopia3D is turning the spotlight on a member of the Vue community. There are so many interesting people doing wonderful things with the Vue line of products, we wanted to share the wealth!

This week, we complete our journey on Daniel's hiking trail, with a look at rendering, and a bit of postwork that takes his image to the next level. We hope you've been following along with his tutorial, have learned a lot, and are working on your final submissions to the challenge gallery!


Making of "Hiking Trail" Part 6 by Daniel Respaud

The idea of this path came from a hike I have done over 25 years ago (oops... what a bit of age!). One year on vacation in the mountains, family activities focused on hiking. It was very early in the morning and we traveled 10 km on foot... a horror, even if today we laugh, and it went well. On this average mountain, on a hiking path, my sister stopped abruptly: she wanted to stop walking and was screaming that she wanted to be picked up a helicopter! For my part, I couldn't take a step without complaining. Yet, at this difficult time, there was one different path up, and yet it was the more complicated: the ways were confusing and bad, streams and mudflows crossed the trail; it would sometimes climb slopes... It was not relaxing at all compared to what we had climbed already. I kept my courage and will and and kept climbing back and forth between streams and large stones. The image "Hiking trail" is inspired by this adventurous time.

1. In Photoshop, creating images that will enable field and the distribution of contents.

Part 6: Rendering and Postwork

1. Here are the render settings I used to render my work:

2. Once the render is finished, I bring it into my 2D image editor, I use Photoshop but there are many free and pay for programs you can use for this.

In the image editing, I rarely plan ahead what I want to do. Sometimes when I am doing a bit of editing or retouching, where I can imagine the result, once I finish that, I may find some surprise results in Photoshop which I didn't envision or plan. Sometimes these are very fortunate surorises that can sometimes '"multiply" the force of an image, in addition to correcting any defects. For the editing of this image, I used the "Enhancement" filter and 4 different settings of colors.

3. Following are the image directly out of Vue in "High quality", as well as a light filter enhancement made in Photoshop:

4. I first made the atmosphere more red with the "Color Balance" option with the following parameters:

5. I've then "blushed" the atmosphere a little more, clarifying it with the "Curve" tool:

6. I also used the "Vibrance" option to add a little contrast in the colors:

8. Finally, with the "selective Correction" tool, I applied the final hue:
